It turns out there is actually a very simple way to accomplish this, but it’s not clearly documented in the places you would expect it.The MSDN documentation on the Item Updated and Item Updating event make no mention of a method called Disable Event Firing.A general software development principle is to suspend or temporarily disable events from firing that you may trigger unintentionally from your code.
Hi While working with Details View control I have come up with few resources when you want to perform update to the data within Details View using buttons out side of Details View control.
Here is the source code to update all the columns in Details View with edited data.
I created the Details View Data Binging sub which populates the field using a datatable 4. Everything works with any issues, just no data is ever returned. Mode Changing '# When the form mode changes we handle how the form loads and what it looks like here Select Case e. Edit) 'Bind Details View() 'Put into insert mode Case Details View Mode. Read Only) Bind Details View() End Select End Sub Protected Sub Details View1_Item Updating(By Val sender As Object, By Val e As System. But I could not delete or update any data as it would tell me there were no fields upon the post back in the Item Deleting or Item Updating event handlers.
Non of my fields are Template fields and they are all databound. Details View Mode Event Args ) Handles Details View1. I had created all of the databindings and everything was working very well. All I want to do is intercept the New Values and put them in my custom data solution.
The reason why item-updating event receiver fires twice in case of document libraries is because of check-in/checkout.
Also it can fire twice in case of doc library/list if we are updating the current item values with in this item updating event. https:// @Robert about the before properties, yes your right they would be the same regardless....
Text Dim Statement As String = CType(Details View1. Also, for Details View how do the indexes work Rows or Cells?
Isn't there something wrong with the syntax I'm using to access the values?
Details View Update Event Ar gs) Handles Details View1. My custom data routine that I was using to bind data to my Details View was comming from the active directory. This is driving me batty as I cannotdo anything with my data.
